As of today, Agent Workbench is generally available, marking the first AI agent builder designed for continuous enterprise innovation and full lifecycle governance. IT teams can now take the brakes off tentative pilots and embed agentic AI into enterprise-wide operations, without disrupting current workflows or rearchitecting core systems.
We built Agent Workbench to be fully integrated into the OutSystems platform, with the same full lifecycle governance and end-to-end monitoring that helps our customers innovate with agility. Unlike bolted-on AI tools, Agent Workbench gives teams everything they need to build and iterate AI-powered apps and agents, spurring rapid innovation cycles that improve core business processes.
Agents built with Agent Workbench are ready to deploy for real-world processes, from loan underwriting to talent recruitment. Grihum Finance has already used Agent Workbench to build an AI agent to identify technical issues during loan origination, accelerating customer onboarding by 70%. TravelEssence has built agents that translate content and generate summaries for traveler itineraries, allowing their employees to focus on mission-critical revenue-generating activities.

Why OutSystems customers have agents in production while others are still experimenting
Why are these companies putting OutSystems AI agents into production while other agentic experiments have languished? It’s because we approached Agent Workbench with the same core principles that have made OutSystems the #1 AI-powered low-code platform.
Your code, your data, your results
When you develop with OutSystems, you own the apps and AI agents you create. Your data stays yours, too. AI agents you create with Agent Workbench are perfectly fit-for-purpose. They work on top of your data and are seamlessly embedded in your applications and experiences. You can even integrate your own AI models or connect to leading third-party providers like Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Anthropic, while also accessing the context until now trapped in your own data. You also get to own faster time to market, improved customer satisfaction, reduced operational costs, all without vendor lock-in.
Embedded security and full lifecycle governance in every app and AI agent
Enterprise-grade security and governance is built directly into our platform by default. Every application and agent operates within strict access controls, role-based permissions, and usage limits that you define. Humans are always in control, ensuring accountability over agent decisions. Built-in observability and monitoring track app performance and agent reasoning, response quality, and operational costs in real time, while automated governance ensures compliance across your entire agent portfolio.
Guaranteed performance, rapid iteration, and full governance
Our platform's 1-Click Publish button not only delivers applications, but it also generates code to enable customization, faster iteration, security scanning, and performance monitoring for the full software development lifecycle. At the foundation of this process is the OutSystems Model (OML), an AI-readable blueprint that maintains a complete view of your application portfolio.
This portfolio-wide visibility allows the platform to intelligently manage dependencies and prevent architectural drift across all your applications and agents. Before deploying any change, it performs a true impact analysis across your portfolio to ensure reliable, predictable results.
The OML is what makes AI application and agent generation with OutSystems fundamentally different. While other coding tools can generate unpredictable outputs, the OML ensures AI-generated code operates according to your enterprise requirements—security, scalability, and performance—correctly and reliably from the start. This means your teams can rapidly create, intelligently refactor, and govern the full lifecycle of AI-generated apps and agents without accumulating technical debt and sprawl.
How our low-code principles led to the first unified platform for enterprise agentic AI systems
The reasons enterprise developer teams have adopted low-code are even more essential in the context of agentic AI development. Today, every organization needs a way to build and orchestrate AI and agentic systems that are aware of their role in their enterprise environment and perform with the operational rigor the business demands.
The technical advantages of low-code when applied to AI app and agent generation translate to significant business advantages. CEOs who are worried about getting left behind in the AI race are even more concerned about the risk of faulty AI agents damaging customer relationships or causing a newsworthy data leak. For the first time in my memory, IT teams and business leaders are united. Both are enthusiastic about the possibilities of agents, and equally mindful of the need for enterprise-grade governance that doesn’t stifle innovation.
Agent Workbench: Your foundation for constant agentic evolution
Over two decades, we've watched customers build innovative portals and mobile applications, modernize legacy and extend core systems, and automate complex workflows, all while maintaining strict security and compliance standards. We’ve also been able to see which projects lead to durable change and ROI, and which ones fizzle out due to lack of adoption or forward incompatibility with constantly changing end-user environments.
Our most successful customers are the ones who use OutSystems as a platform for constant evolution, in an ongoing cycle of feedback and iteration with their business stakeholders. Agent Workbench is designed to promote these learnings and best practices in your organization from day one.
The possibilities are endless. Imagine AI agents that can reason through complex financial regulations, orchestrate multi-step manufacturing processes, or provide personalized healthcare guidance, all while operating within security and compliance frameworks. These are all projects our customers are building today. So, what will you build?
The agentic future is here. Build yours with Agent Workbench.
